In addition to physical discomfort, irregular vaginal anatomy can create feelings of embarrassment and self-consciousness for numerous women, often leading to a poor self-image. Thankfully, many individuals have gained renewed confidence and improved their quality of life by undergoing labiaplasty – a procedure designed to reduce enlarged tissue of the labia minora and/or labia majora. Based on the specific needs and desires of the patient, this rewarding procedure can be customized to:
- Reduce excess, stretched, and/or enlarged tissue of the labia minora
- Reduce excess, stretched, and/or enlarged tissue of the labia majora
- Recontour labial tissue to achieve a more symmetrical appearance
- Significantly diminish (or potentially eliminate) pain/discomfort caused by excessive labial tissues when exercising, engaging in sexual activity, or wearing tight-fitting clothing
Following labiaplasty, patients can often start to see their results immediately, though some swelling in the area will likely be present initially. This swelling should slowly diminish over the course of approximately four to six weeks, during which time all sexual or strenuous activities will need to be avoided. That said, most women are able to resume office jobs and/or non-strenuous daily routines after only a few days. Once all swelling has resolved and the area is fully healed, patients should be able to enjoy the full physical and psychological benefits of their labiaplasty procedure.
