Lumenis® M22™ Laser Skin Treatment
Developed by Lumenis®, M22™ is a state-of-the-art, multi-functional laser platform designed to treat over 30 skin concerns and conditions with exceptional outcomes. Equipped with four distinctive modules, the innovative laser system can be used to significantly improve the appearance of the skin by helping to minimize lines and wrinkles, acne scars, uneven pigmentation, vascular lesions, sun damage, unwanted hair, and more. As a non-surgical procedure, laser treatment with M22™ usually takes under an hour to complete and typically requires little – if any – recovery or downtime.
The four M22™ laser modules available at Aesthetic Surgery of Virginia include:
- Universal IPL – This Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) module is able to treat hyperpigmentation, vascular lesions, undesired hair, and various other concerns on the body and face using photorejuvenation. Thanks to Optimal Pulse Technology (OPT™), the Universal IPL laser procedure can be performed with improved comfort and an exceptional degree of control.
- ResurFX™ – This laser resurfacing module uses non-ablative, fractional energy to help diminish lines and wrinkles, irregular pigmentation, age and sun spots, and skin laxity for a renewed overall appearance. Equipped with an innovative CoolScan™ scanner, the ResurFX™ laser procedure can be custom-tailored to optimize patient experience, safety, and results.
- MultiSpot™ Nd:YAG – This Nd:YAG module offers multiple sequential pulsing, which is an advanced component that enhances the safety and effectiveness of laser treatment by enabling targeted tissues to cool in between light energy pulses. The MultiSpot™ Nd:YAG laser can often be a great option for reducing the appearance of vascular lesions and unsightly leg veins.
- Q-Switched Nd:YAG – This Nd:YAG module employs a homogeneous distribution of energy that helps improve the efficacy and safety of treatment by minimizing epidermal tissue damage, skin texture changes, and the occurrence of scarring. The Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser can often be an excellent solution for treating pigment irregularities and dark tattoos, and it can be easily combined with other laser procedures.

Following treatment with the M22™ laser platform, some degree of redness and/or swelling in the targeted area can be expected, but these symptoms should resolve relatively quickly. Though seldom described as anything more than mild, any potential discomfort or tenderness can usually be easily managed with medicine and should not prevent patients from returning to normal activities within a few days, if not right away.
Ultimately, final results will vary based on skin type, the particular concern(s) being addressed, and the specific M22™ laser module employed. In addition, a series of multiple treatments may be required to achieve an ideal outcome. All of this can be discussed in great detail at the time of your consultation.
